Friday Favourite – Cook up a storm!

Well I only thought it appropriate that today I let you in on a another little secret favourite thing.  I enjoy cooking and baking!!!  Actually, maybe we need to clarify that – I enjoy eating the spoils of my cooking sessions!

I remember leaving home and only really knowing how to cook one meal.  We ate that meal with much enjoyment as all the other meals were not as well cooked with my learning curve.  But 20 years later and lots of thanks to one chef – Jamie Oliver – I learnt how to mix flavours and can now cook up my own recipes.  I am not professing that I am by any means a chef or homemade chef of any sorts.

With today being Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution Day make the choice to cook up dinner tonight and sit down as a family and really enjoy every mouthful.  It was cooked with so much love and you all deserve it.

I might just have to have my yummy teriyaki chicken legs with sesame seeds, buttered rice and broccoli dinner in memory to where I started!!!

Vanilla Cupcakes

Cupcake 1

We have been back from living in the States for about 6 years now but hubby is still craving the Starbucks Vanilla Cupcakes.  After searching around on the internet for a while I found a copy recipe that was close enough to put a happy smile on his face.  I had fun baking and decorating these moreish cupcakes and the family definitely had fun quickly devouring them.

Worthwhile Werewolves

Last night I was lucky enough to attend a Drhands_Fotor1 Bruce Robinson Event discussing children walking the thin red line.  It was comforting to realise that we have already been doing some of the parenting advice given by Bruce.  The main points that I took away from this event were to give your children one on one time ensuring you listen and not lecture.  This quality time will make your children feel worthwhile and will make the inner voice in their head easier to listen to when coming to making some of those hard decisions.  The other point is to prepare them for the obstacles that they may come across.  By preparing them with easy non-confrontational replies they will avoid falling into some difficult circumstances.  If you are interested in finding out more please visit The Fathering Project.
